Assessment Services

An assessment may be recommended by a classroom teacher, school guidance officer or you may have your own concerns as a parent.

Depending on your child's age and the main areas of concern, formal assessment can include an investigation of:

  • Oral language, for example vocabulary knowledge and ability to comprehend instructions

  • Phonological processing skills, for example the ability to break spoken words into sounds, phonological memory and rapid automatic naming (highly associated with reading ability)

  • Word reading accuracy and fluency (for real and nonsense words)

  • Single word spelling (for real and nonsense words)

  • Passage reading fluency and comprehension

  • Written composition

Assessments can take between 1 - 4 hours and start at $420, which includes a report with an analysis of strengths, weaknesses and recommendations.
